Facinated with the trippy reflections off the opposite mirror panels, we started the design concept back in 2015 with glass and mirrors but didnt materialised due to market trends.
Making it larger, we decided that it could be more than 4 sides and we begin to research more into the number of panels. We tried 6, 8 , 10 and even 12 and realise that the more panels we add, the rounder the shape and more complex with more sides. Drawing inspiration out of our lighting industry, we found watch maker Corum experimenting with materials over their 12sided dodecagon classic Admiral cup series.
This further encourage us to explore materials not from our current supply chain. Also partly due to the poor IP protection in China, we decided not to make this lamp within the lighting industry.
Making it last longer, the frame is CNC from in Grade sus304 Stainless Steel plates, so its harder and corrosion resistant. We decided to also have it PVD, like Luxury watches, so that out Brass and GunMetal finish will last a long as the stainless plates. Hairline surface on the top so that dust is less visible and mirror-polished on the bottom so that it reflects and doubles the complexity
Panels on the other hand is open-sourced, we are open to work with any designers and artist to create the panels to best suit the project interior.
Begining our first collaboration, we tied up with local interior design firm FaceLift Design for the first release. These Scallop panels are fabricated in Singapore using 3mm Acrylic panels and are available in Cobalt Blue, Smokey Bronze and Opal and in form of AGON.4 and AGON.8 [frames in either 4 or 8 panels]
